Local Governance

Port Klang Authority: The Port Klang Authority administers three port areas in Port Klang: Northport, Southpoint and Westport.

Historical administration: Before the Port Klang Authority was established, South Port was the only existing port and was administered by the Malayan Railway Administration.

Privatised operations: Northport and Westport have been privatised and are managed as separate entities.

Northport: Northport is owned and operated by Northport (Malaysia) Bhd. It provides dedicated multipurpose port facilities and services. The entity came from the merger of Kelang Container Terminal (KCT) and Kelang Port Management (KPM). Its operations also cover South Port, now known as Southpoint, for conventional cargo handling.

Westport: Westport is managed by Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd, formerly known as Kelang Multi Terminal Sdn Bhd. The Port Klang Cruise Centre is located at Pulau Indah next to the cargo terminals of Westport.

Accessibility

Road access to Kuala Lumpur: Port Klang is the western end of the Federal Highway, Federal Route 2, which links Port Klang to Kuala Lumpur.

Access to Westports and PKFZ: KESAS connects with the Pulau Indah Expressway, Federal Route 181, near Pandamaran, providing access toward Westports and the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ).

Main local roads: Persiaran Raja Muda Musa and Jalan Pelabuhan Utara link Port Klang town, Southport and nearby housing areas.

Pulau Indah connection: Since 2012, Pulau Indah has been directly connected to Putrajaya and Kajang via SKVE.

Public transport: Port Klang has bus and commuter train services to Kuala Lumpur via Klang. KTM Komuter serves Port Klang station and connects to Klang, Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and Tanjung Malim.

Ferry access: Passenger ferry services to Pulau Ketam and international ferry services to Tanjungbalai and Dumai in Indonesia are located in the area.

Air access: An airstrip was built in the area in 1937 for the RAF and operated until 1966. The site is now a school.
